This policy describes the standards that Frontara News holds itself to.
Accuracy
We aim to publish only what we have good reason to believe is true. We check facts, names, figures and quotes before publication, and we aim to confirm important claims with more than one independent source.
Independence
Our coverage is decided by our editors. Advertisers, sponsors, governments, companies and political parties do not control what we publish.
Sources and attribution
We name our sources wherever we can. We grant anonymity only when a source could face real harm and the information is important and verified another way, and we tell readers when a source is anonymous. We credit other publications when we use their reporting.
News and opinion
Reporting and opinion are kept apart. Opinion pieces are labelled, and they express the views of their authors.
Fairness
We give people and organisations we report on a fair chance to respond where possible, and we report on all sides of a story.
Conflicts of interest
Journalists must disclose any interest that could affect their reporting and step back from stories where they cannot be impartial.
Images and video
We credit photographs and video. We do not present altered or staged images as real, and we label illustrations and archive pictures.
Use of AI tools
We may use AI tools for tasks such as research assistance and draft translation. A human editor reviews everything before it is published, and people remain responsible for it.
Sponsored content
Sponsored content is always labelled and kept separate from our reporting. See Advertising and sponsorship.
Mistakes
When we make a mistake we correct it openly. See our corrections policy.
